There are so many initiatives from environmentalists who pay attention and long for changes to the Citarum River. As is known, the Citarum River is currently polluted by human waste, animal waste, and factory waste. For this reason, an event was held for the Declaration of Ecosystem Restoration for the Citarum River Basin (DAS), at Cisanti Lake, Tarumajaya Village, Bandung Regency.

The organizer of this activity is the Pangdam III Siliwangi in collaboration with the Indonesia Cares Citarum Forum (FIPC). In the activity held on 21-23 February 2018, the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) of Maranatha Christian University participated in supporting the Citarum Harum government program.

In this activity the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jokowi; Minister of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya; together with the surrounding community planted 1,000 trees to reforest the Citarum upstream. Under the responsibility of the Deputy Dean II of the FSRD, Dr. Seriwati Ginting, M.Pd., held an exhibition on how to revitalize the Citarum river. The Maranatha Christian University FSRD Lecturer, Gai Suhardja, Ph.D., is also active in initiating and even pioneering the Indonesian Citarum Care Forum (Gemricik). (eh/pm)
