Reliving Memories Together at the Alumni Gathering
Evan Agustian Lukius , 22 Jun 2024
Not only formal events, but FSRD also holds Alumni Gatherings so that alumni can mingle and connect warmly with faculty and staff. The event opened with an acoustic band called "Lost Avenue," composed of the Class of '22. Before the Alumni Gathering, each FSRD program conducted a presentation on their achievements and academic progress. Creative World in Fashion Design and Its Impact on Global Fashion and Culture From the Diploma Program in Fine Arts and Design, presented by Ms. Yosephine Sri Ningsih, M.Ds., as the Head of the Diploma Program in Fine Arts and Design. Ms. Yosephine mentioned that Fashion Maranatha has achieved excellent accreditation consecutively. They have also partnered for student scholarships with several international universities, fostering International Collaboration. Fashion Maranatha consistently receives invitations to national and international fashion shows. "We have been improvising our curriculum every year, strengthening industrial practices, inviting industry professionals to teach in our classes, and addressing industry challenges directly in our courses. Our teaching is not only from academics but also directly involves practitioners, which has led to numerous creative outputs," said Ms. Yosephine Sri Ningsih, M.Ds., Head of the Diploma Program in Fine Arts and Design. The Diploma Program in Fine Arts and Design continuously collaborates with other programs such as Visual Communication Design, Architecture, Fine Arts, and Interior Design in community service research and seminars. In the field of fashion, they recently won the BUMN event at Sarinah Jakarta in the formal category. Interior Design Collaboration is Highly Important The second speaker was Ms. Elliati Djakaria, Dipl.-Ing., M.Min, Head of the Bachelor's Program in Interior Design. She mentioned that Interior Design has achieved international accreditation and is licensed until April 30, 2029, thanks to collaborative efforts from faculty, students, staff, and stakeholders. "Our collaboration courses have been very successful from the start, and we continue to receive positive feedback from stakeholders. We have expanded collaborations, especially with Visual Merchandising, and now have facilities like 3D Printers and Laser Cutting equipment," said Ms. Elliati Djakaria, Dipl.-Ing., M.Min, Head of the Bachelor's Program in Interior Design. Ms. Elliati also emphasized the importance of alumni involvement and collaboration among programs to prepare students for the professional world. Importance of Broadening Horizons for Enhanced Insights The third speaker was Mr. Riki Himawan, S.Sn., M.M., from the Visual Communication Design Bachelor's Program. He discussed the four concentrations within DKV: Creative Advertising, Graphic Design, Fashion Graphics, and Game Graphics. DKV continually updates its curriculum to keep pace with rapid developments in these diverse fields through seminars and lectures. Mr. Riki also highlighted DKV's partnerships and exhibitions, including collaborations with universities in Indonesia and visits to various regions to enrich student perspectives beyond local boundaries. As Architecture, We Must Develop a Genre The fourth speaker was Ms. Ferlina Sugata, S.T., M.T., Head of the Bachelor's Program in Architecture. Established in 2019, the Architecture Program focuses on advancing architectural education in Indonesia. Despite having fewer labs and workshops, the program emphasizes practical learning through site visits and collaborations. Ms. Ferlina discussed recent projects, including visits to material factories and prestigious architectural exhibitions, aiming to align the curriculum with international standards, particularly in Southeast Asia. Socializing Advanced Studies (S2 and S3) for FSRD Alumni This session was led by Ms. Isabella Isthipraya Andreas, S.Ds., M.Ds., Vice Dean of Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, and a lecturer in the Interior Design Bachelor's Program. She encouraged alumni interested in pursuing further studies to consider opportunities abroad, such as at Keimyung University in South Korea or the University of Malaysia for Diploma graduates wishing to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Creative Industries. FSRD has collaborations with four foreign universities, offering diverse opportunities for international academic exchanges. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Program Next was the presentation of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Program by Ms. Shirly Nathania Suhanjoyo, S.Sn., M.Ds., a lecturer in the Interior Design Bachelor's Program. This program allows individuals with relevant work experience, even from different fields like Fine Arts, to obtain a degree in Interior Design through accelerated study programs of 1.5 to 2 years. After the informative sessions, the event concluded with a relaxed atmosphere featuring BBQ and opportunities for alumni to reconnect with faculty, staff, and fellow alumni. The evening continued with nostalgic moments shared among alumni and faculty, celebrating their academic journeys and envisioning the future of what will soon be the Faculty of Humanities and Creative Industries (FHIK). For the alumni and faculty present, they believe that FSRD UK Maranatha is incredibly strong in its sense of community. They find the camaraderie among them very solid, and the faculty members have a close and positive relationship with them. Alumni consider FSRD UK Maranatha as their second family. Alumni also advised younger classmates not to fear pursuing careers outside their majors and to believe that there are many paths to success. The alumni have established an Alumni Association to maintain strong relationships with both alumni and faculty, aiming to make a positive impact on FSRD and Universitas Kristen Maranatha. Alumni exchange ideas on FSRD's progress since its merger with the Faculty of Language and Culture (FBB), expressing hopes for the Faculty of Humanities and Creative Industries (FHIK) to thrive, maintain a strong sense of community, and continue to be a blessing and a positive influence. The event concluded with a performance by the first alumni band from the Class of 2004, allowing everyone to reminisce together with faculty and staff. They had a lot of fun, strengthening the bonds of the FSRD community even further. Despite the upcoming transformation into the Faculty of Humanities and Creative Industries (FHIK), they hope to continue fostering a strong sense of community, unity, and mutual support, ready to embark on new paths towards a bright future.
